Default Cleaning carbs, notoced valves are flithy. What should i do?

So i have my carbs off on my 1999 F4 cleaning them. I decided to look down in the head and noticed the valves are caked in black gunk. Should i spray something on them to clean them off or....?

to clean the carbon deposits out of around the valves start your bike with the tank and top of the airbox off of the bike---- get a squirt bottle with water in it and rev your motor to3,000 RPM and get a fine mistof water and spray directly into the butterflyof the carb---- Repeat on all carbs----- its oldschool but it works great--- i do it all the time------ if your lazy you can just buy some seafoam fuel additive and put it in your gas but watch to not get any on your pain because it will take it right off---- later

It would be to the same effect as water injection....a mist would be fine in the engine. Acts as a steam cleaner.

Please dont shoot water in your engine, it can oxydize your rings and scar the cylinder wall. Water injection is used on boosted engines to cool the intake charge, changing the state of the water from liquid to gas in the manifold not the cylinder. The manual explains exactly how to remove the cylinderhead and disasemble ,inspect, and clean or replace parts.

I spary carb cleaner on mine about every other month....I have heard of spraying a litght mist of water on them, shouldnt hurt the engine as long as yo dont use much, like Fusor said its oldschool but it does work

Haha i certainly wouldn’t dis-assemble the head to clean carbon off the valves. That’s comical.

Uhm, the only defense I have is that I was very sleep deprived when I posted that

My suggestion for cleaning your valves is to use sea-foam. You mix it in with your gas, and it helps clear anything between your fuel filter and exhaust out.
