RE: chain problems
Chains continually stretch over time and eventually when you have the tensioners all the way out it comes time to replace the chain. So yes it's common and it's time for that chain to go. As for the sprocket that should be fine. There is no reason other the complete disrespect of the bike that a sprocket would wear out in 8,000 mi. So unless your a hooligan I say just get a new chain.

RE: chain problems
Yes........always replace the chain and sprockets together. A bad chain will ruin new sprockets FAST.....and vise-verse.
Did you lube it? That should help the kinking problem. Did you change teeth size from stock? Seems like you went down one tooth on the front with a stock chain and the adjusters are out of room now..and it needs lubed.
8k is way fast for a chain/sprocket to be dead. 20K should be NO problem.

RE: chain problems
so i adjusted the chain to get rid of some of the slack and it seems to be holding...ive been good about lubing it but not so good about checking tension...so that could be my problem. the thing is i took it to a shop to get it tightened because i didnt have my tools on me, and they started filling my head with stupid sh-t that shops always do like i needed to start replacing stuff. im gonna see if my chain keeps tension, and then think about replacing the tensioners on the swingarm, or should those be totally fine after 23k on the bike? thanks again for the help.
ps-i replaced the chain and sprockets 8k ago and went with -1 front and +1 rear and 525 conversion and cut my own chain to fit.
