Default Cct cheap quick fix

Ok so I my cct recently went out and I was searching around for solution and well found one. Has anyone heard of unscrewing the plug in the end of the cct and take a 6mm/1.0/ well I forgot the last measurement I have it wrote down somewhere. So u unplug the plug in end of cct and then take that bolt and it's nut. You thread the nut on the bolt and hand tighten the bolt into the cct then screw the nut down to the cct case and tighten the nut down. Now this made the rattling go away and there are no more sounds. It was a cheap fix and by no means am I saying this is a permanent fix but it will hold you over until you decide to buy new cct. The person where I got the information has used this fix for 60k km and it still works. I was looking at the ape manual cct and it almost is exactly the same as my fix. I would like to buy a new cct but this works perfect so I'm happy now. Has anyone used this before?

just buy the manual one...

I know a couple people that have done it. But finding the right bolt can be difficult unless you know what you are doing.

I have a APE one; easy, safe, winning

I did it yesterday, and it was as easy as it sounds. Removed the cap screw, but in an M6/1.0/130mm cap screw (bolt) finger tight. I reused the (aluminum?) washer, and used an M6 nut to lock it in place. No rattling on the ride to work this morning.

I think I'll probably get a manual one anyway, but the rattling was driving me nuts. Since you only screw it in finger tight, I figure I couldn't do too much damage in the interim.

Really, you just replace the end bolt with a longer one.
FML I find this now and I ordered the cctl a week back. Oh well. I guess I can't complain too much it was only $70

Is that length right (130mm, i.e. 5"+ long)? For the life of my I can't find one that long anywhere, even from the local supply house. I'd like to give this a shot this weekend to get me through until I buy a replacement.

OK, how about this; what length is the stock bolt in the end of the automatic tensioner? You should be able to add 25-50mm to that length and get it to work.

Okay I'm not doing it myself but it is my bike, but the guy doing the job says it's not going to work because a 130mm bolt is way longer than the the bolt that's in there that is just a cap bolt he says. Does anyone have a picture, video, or explanation how and why this is supposed to work? I showed him this thread and he thinks you're talking about the manual APE cctl. Help me explain to this dude stop thinking so hard put the bolt and nut in and try it.
