Im new here so let me introduce myself,
my name is of course Stuart, age 40, location Holland
i have just passed my test in holland although im english and been living in holland for the past 11 years,
just bought myself a cbr 600 f4,
now down to buisness,
i have a noise from the transmission when driving slowly and when im coasting riding with the clutch in i hear a noise what appears to me to be my gerbox bearings rumbling away,
seeing as this s my first bike i have had in 20 years i dont have much to compare it to,
i have searched the web endlessly but cant find much about cbr gearbox problems,so im guessing its not common,
i have just bought the bike and didnt hear the noise so far as i can remember when i drove it to my house a week ago, i have just changed the oil and filter and used premium jaso oil in the bike,
can anyone throw any light on this? daily im a Renault technician and have been for 23 years,
im guessing this is not normal? and if i did have to replace the bearings what sort of job is it?
any help advice greatly appreciated,
many thanks
Stuart

Welcome aboard Stuart!
Congrats on your new to you bike. If its an '02, its an F4i..."i" for fuel-injected. 2000 was the last year for carbs. While the F4 & F4i are similar bikes, they aren't exactly the same. Just wanted you to be aware such that you could ask questions in the proper section(s).
To ans your question... No, its not normal. How is your chain tension? Is it tight? A tight chain on a CBR will give you problems. You want 1-3/8in of slack. The F4/F4i tends to work better w/ slack vs being tight. Start there & see if the problem still exists after adjustment.

Thanks for your welcome,
the chain seems to be ok ive cleaned and oiled it today also,
i really dont have anything to compare it to as way of noises,
the bikes only done 31,000 KM so im findind it hard to believe theres a problem!
and yes it is a fuel injected bike
thnks for your reply
