So for some reason whenever the bike is idleing my rpms fluxtuate between 1 and 1.3 rpms. Is this normal? when ever I take off from first gear occasionaly the bike sputters. Im not sure why this is happening, my best guess is the carbs need to be cleaned. Every other gear and riding high speeds is perfectly fine. The bike has 13,000 miles. I have never really worked on bikes, but how hard is it to clean the carbs? Could it possibly be something else? thanks!

 

depends if you have any experience with anything automotive and more specifically carbs. have to pull jets and make sure everything is extremely clean. and work in clean area the smallest piece of debris can clog something. as for the idle i dont know if i would really say its the carb.

 

Im gonna try using seafoam and see if it helps.
