hey guys thx for the input...
sorry I was out of town for a week for the 4th....i just pulled the tank tonight...and I was going to pull the air box too but after i took outall of the screws i can find on top of the box (think its 9 total) the airbox still wont lift off ?? is there something i'm missing ?? feels like its still screwed on somewhere ??
and no one's come up with thespark plug problem rossy...that does kinda make sense...yeah i need to get in there and check the plugs and everything....i ordered a manual CCT on-line casue i've looked at some links and theylookrelatively easy to change and everyone says there not abig problem when they go out...so what happens when they DO go out....am i looking at big $$$$ for an engine problem or something ???

well the only reason they go out (not that they really just take a ****) but its a shaft with a spring and all it does is keep tension on a runner that the cam chain runs against. and just like every mechanical thing the spring wears out. that alows the cam chain to move more than normal. as the chain gets older youll have to adjust the tension more and more but it shouldnt be alot.

hey back again...ok so now i took the tank and airbox off to get a better look and started the bike for about 5 seconds....the loudpopping noise is every other second or so andis coming from what looks like some type of a vaccum unit from the upper front of the engine...the small diameter rubber hose attached to it comes from the 1st carbuerator on the right hand side of the bike...at the carb it also has another hose witha t connector that goes under the carb......i've got apicture but i cant attach the dammmm thing !!! i can e-mail to anyone who might be able to help???
the hosehas smallletters on it if that means anything ?? (it says TA and has 2 small up-arrows on it).
Any ideas ?? THANKS !

Yeah send me a pic at ross.dolly82@yahoo. If it's what I'm thinking, it's the air injection control valve that you are looking at in the front of the motor. Should have 2 large hoses that go down into the top of the head and 1 small hose that runs to the back of the carbs. At any rate, if there is a popping sound coming from there, definately have some kind of motor/timing issues.Perhaps the timing is far enough off, blowing out back through the air injection valve.
