Default 600rr Tail on F4

Ok so I have searched just about all the forums that deal with F4's and I haven't found any write ups on this. I have seen a few F4I's that this has been done to but still no write ups on how it was done.

Here is the quick history of my 99 F4

Bought it like this for $1500 spring of 08

Here it is after paint.

Got bored with that paint so I did this.

This paint stuck around for about a year. About a month after being stationed in Japan I had a car cut me off. I was only doing about 15-20mph at the time so the damage wasn't to bad just smashed up the front end a little. All said and done I got $5700 from the other guys insurance company (Bikes hold there value allot longer in Japan). And this is how it ended up after it was fixed

So last Saturday I was out doing some wheelies at the local spot with some friends and this was the result.

So I have wanted to do a tail swap for a while and these were my options.

01-03 F4i Split seat - To Meany people have done it.
06 GSXR 600 - as much as I like the look I'm really not a big Gixxer fan
05-06 600rr - Slim and clean... lets do it!!!

I'm sorry for the long intro but I thought it would be good to give a little back ground on my bike.

Know I just started this today so it is still a work in progress. But as of now I am close to being able to start making the mounting brackets for everything.

This is where the majority of of the cutting needs to be done. (I don't plan on riding 2 up at all so the end of the sub frame doesn't need to be super strong)

After trimming.

I finally removed the cross peace. I'll fab something up in the next few days.

Tail fits a ton better now

I still need to do a little more trimming but for the most part it all fits really well.

Well that's all for today I should have some more posted up in the next few days.

Look forward to seeing progress on your mod.

Here is an update,

I finally got some spare time to mess with the bike and started on the under tail today. I decided not to use the RR tail light cause well I'm cheap and I would have to make an under tail any ways.

I started with some wire mesh from a local home improvement store.

After I cut it down and got it close to where it needed to be.

I'm not sure what the state side equivalent of this is, But I love it. It doesnt start to harden until it is under some sort of UV rays.

And here it is.

After it hardens it will get sanded out, fiberglassed over, sanded a little filler putty, sanded, and then painted. But before paint I will be cutting holes for LED's for the brake light and blinkers (and there will be a little surprise for every one with the LED's)
