Default WOT hesitation/stall issue

I just bought a 96 cbr 600 from my friend. When its idling and you crack the throttle to wide open it will usually hesitate or stall(this is when its warmed up), sometimes it's fine though. This is my first bike so im not too sure of what to expect from the bike as far as throttle response with no load. I haven't ridden it yet but the only other time it will hesitate is in 6th at 5k or something, I can't remember exactly what he told me. We cleaned the carbs and replaced the fuel filter which seemed to help a little. Other than that it starts and idles fine. Its not really a big deal I would just like it to run as well as it can. It has a k&n air filter and other than that its stock. Any help would be appreciated

Is that because it flows more or less than stock? My friend said the stock setup didn't have the shelf thing in the airbox and that it came with the k&n. Ill get the stock filter from him and give that a try

The K&N will flow more air.

My bike is the same, all stock sans a K&N filter. I had to move the needles up(clip down) a notch to cure a stumble/hesitation. Someone had put a jet kit in it with adjustable needles at some point.

If your needles are stock you can shim them.

Cheers

It flows more, right now u got more air than fuel. u need to add bigger jets and adjust the air/fuel mixture screw. Or. put everything back to stock.

Put the stock filter in and it made no difference. My friend said it didn't have a problem with the k&n filter before it fell off his trailer. Im thinking the carbs just need to be synced. I got about 40 mpg on a couple gallons going easy on it. He said he got between 50 and 60 and he probably has 100 pounds on me so its running rich for some reason.

If he gave you the bike for free I would trust every word he said but, if he sold it to you... forget every thing he told you.
I am learning on this forum myself but only by asking the right questions and and many many many google searches that contain "CBR (problem you are having)".

This is a example of what I found when I typed in CBR Stumbling.
