Default Wierd Slapping under my tank?

Hey guys Im New to the Forum as well as Sorta new to the Bike.. But here goes nothin! Feel free to Rag on how much of an Idiot i am....

I Changed the oil a few weeks ago and used car oil... i realized after at the honda dealer they sell Motorcycle oil so i asked the guy about it and he than began to explain that the transmission oil an motor oil are mixed unlike a cars... so i rode for a little while and began to hear a slapping under my tank. its not consistant like a valve or low on oil tick like a car... it sounds likie a chain slap but under my tank? i dont hear it at idle or when i press the clutch in....only when its decelerating in gear with a load on it...more so when ive got a passanger....

any help would be appreciated!

Julian

OK, first off welcome to the forum. Second, I can assure you that your changing of the oil didn't have anything to do with a noise you're hearing under the tank. The issue with what some people call "Car Oil" is that some of them have friction enhancers or modifiers. These can have negative effects on your clutch causing it to slip. If you know what oil you used, check the label and see if it indicates it. If it does, then replace it oil that doesn't have that. I won't say anything more on that other than to say there is some good info on oil here and out on the internet (some bad info too).

As for the noise, if its not keeping step with changes in RPM, then it's most likely not related to something inside the engine. Chain noise is common if it's not adjusted properly. When you're decelerating, you have all your slack on the top of the chain which causes it to hit the swing arm more. Maybe the rubber piece that's supposed to cushion the chain is worn or missing. Just some things to think about or look at.

Clutch? if so what part? the whole thing? basket and all?
CCT?
Chain guides?
valve? im sort of ignoring this one just becasue i feel like i would hear it costantly, and i dont... just upon deceleration of the bike while im in gear....

welcome to the club. as for your question cct is C.am C.hain T.ensioner and for your clutch he is refering to the clutch plates slipping. chain guides are on your swingarm and guide the chain and also protect your swing arm that are located mostly on the pivot point of you swing arm where it connects to the bike. As for oil, I have always used honda brand oil for my motorcycle. I have been told many things but the main thing i am always told about automotive oil is that it has an additive called molly that is potentially dangerous for our motors. Also invest in a repair manual and learn to check things yourself it will save you alot of money and also save you from problems at the stealership. i am assuming you own a cbr600f3. also fill out your location more because maybe there might be a member near where you live who could stop by and also give you a hand
