Default wheel weights

Hey all.
Got my new rubber mounted up on the rear a few days ago. Since then I have noticed a slight vibration at highway speeds. I checked my back wheel and noticed that the mechanic used normal sticky weights to balance the wheel instead of the clamp type that goes directly in the center. Could this be the source of my vibration? Does anyone else have non-centered wheel weights without issue?

Yes, the weights mounting location could be slightly off balance.

Hm. I guess I'll be pulling the wheel back off to check the balance myself. It's got 4 1/4oz weights on it, and they're all on the same side of the centerline. At the very least I could put two on one side and two on the other.

EDIT>I'd prefer to just use the clamp type that was on there before, but I don't see them for sale anywhere. Any tips?

could be the weights, but before you do anything with that, look on the tire itself, there should be a thin line around the bead of the tire, follow it all the way around the rim and make sure its equal distance from the rim all the way around, if not, then take it back to the shop that mounted it.

Kuro, I've heard of those. I assume they work pretty well for you? I also assume you have to put them in at the time of tire mounting. If that's the case, just something I'll have to remember for next time.

Sjona, thanks for the suggestion, I'll check that out tomorrow in the daylight. Not totally sure what you mean but it will probably make more sense when I'm looking at it.

Interesting. They don't show removing the core of the valve stem as part of the procedure for motorcycles, but I can't imagine it would work otherwise. Unless I'm just being dense. Either way, gonna give my local cycle shop a call, see if they carry the stuff. Thanks for the suggestion mate.
