Well I am a little late to this party, but better late than never! spicymeowmix has a very similar mount to the one I made. The only real difference being that he cut a hole for the gauge cluster wires to go through, where I created a "slot" for them to slide down into for easy removal without disconnecting the harness. This image should hopefully show what I mean.

ha! that's a good idea, why didn't I think of that?
Think I'm gonna make a square back and use a dremel on the existing dash. I like how the current dash keeps visible wires to a minimum. Will figure out later how to neaten it up.
First step: buy a dremel and some plexi

Also, another thing that I did that made the entire process easier was to purchase a 14-pin stereo wiring harness for the quick removal of the gauges. The harness was just a standard Ford/Lincoln/Mercury/Mazda stereo harness. You can pick these up at most any car stereo shop, but make sure you get both a male and female version to splice into the wiring. Once that is installed, you can connect/disconnect your gauges to your heart's content!
Cheers!

It's been a while, so I cannot recall all the specifics, but if I remember correctly, I went with a triangle because a square interfered with something else in the dash area. I could be wrong on that, but either way I would mock it up with cardboard first and turn your handlebars to full extension to make sure nothing will be interfering.

Oh, and I also added an inline fuse holder (with 10amp fuse) between the gauges and the positive (+) battery terminal. The gauges cost me so much that I was afraid to hook them up directly to the battery with no protection!
Take a look at my website (LINK) for details of everything. Under the "Modifications" tab, I detail the method that I used for changing the mileage on my gauges. I needed to bring them "up" in miles to match the stock gauges, so it was easy.
Attached is the wiring diagram I used for hooking things up through the stereo wiring harness. As an aside, there is a thread around here where someone hooked up the F/I indicator to be their kickstand indicator, which I feel is a great update to this mod!

Yuppers. Been to your website when I googled mount options. Clever with changing the mileage but I don't have to worry bout it. My bike has been salvaged and they set the mileage to 100k.
The inline fuse I'll have to remember when I hit autozone. Don't think I'll need anything else major. Been hearing horror stories bout snapping the temp sensor.

Yes, I can say I was one of those horror stories! I spent a good long time trying to extract the remnants of the old sensor before I could install the new. Best of luck with this portion! It really sux to break off the top of the old one!
