Default (Wanted) F4i cluster mount pics / ideas

Thanks to chuckbear, I've got a shiny new-to-me F4i cluster to fit on my F3. And of course I gotta figure out how to mount it on my bike.

If you've done the conversion, mind giving some pics / tips / ideas on how you mounted them?

You should check out all the F3 - F4i swap threads for some photos of what other people have done. One good place to start is at -this link-. On that page of the thread you will find my acrylic/plexiglass mounting solution covered with carbon fiber vinyl. If you keep going in the thread, there are at least two other people who have posted their solutions as well.

Good luck with your project!

Cheers!

Heh I found your blog & photobucket account of your swap omniate. It looks great but there was never a pic of just the mount itself. You'd already put the cluster on.

Or am I overcomplicating it and it really is just a Plexiglas triangle?

Can't speak for Ominate but that's pretty much what I was going for before I decided to sell my bike and not do the swap.

I was thinking you just drill the mounting holes to mount to the F3 spots and then drill holes for the f4i gauges and you've got yourself a setup.

Granted, I never quite got to the measuring/cutting/fitting stage.

i'll tell you what i did,
i took a newspaper, and laid it on the fairing stay,
then punched the 3 holes for the bracket through the news paper,
i then laid that on cardboard and punched through those holes.
i cut around them into a triangle, and you have a rough draft of the piece.
1cm triangle around the holes is sufficient, i can take some pictures of it if you want, or hell even send you the cardboard.

you will have to then make a replica of that onto whatever
some people have used a license plate, i used expensive plastic.

this is a bad but instructive picture of it

you will need to make 3 more holes where it will secure to the gauge,
plus a place for the wires to go through.
I cut mine just a tad bigger so the gauge's 3 spots went through and it laid mostly flush with the plastic.

hope that helps.

(that other weird hole to the btm left was made later for my light kit, so don't worry about that)

Hmm... ya, definitely overcomplicating things. Gonna shoot for getting it on the bike and working. Then aim for something more dashboard like later.

No real rush since can only ride like 1 hr out of 1 day a week right now (too cold, too wet, too windy or too all 3)

i had them for a bit until someone fell on my bike and broke one of them.
they were so crappy using them was a challenge.

i since moved to

and it's been night and day for me,
plus they fold in for the motorcycle cover
