Vortex Sprockets and A New Tire (PIX!)
It's been a week or two and I haven't been on lately to post my progress.
It's been the hurricane days down here, and well, not too much riding to be done, but the weather's up and about now, so here's some more progress on my f3.
I've put a new tire on my front rim (the old one was so worn I could see the threading) She's a Shinko Raven (65 bucks shipped RAWR)
Man, it's like a whole new bike with that wheel on there!
So how about some before and afters, right?
Before
Wow was it nasty.
I could jump-rope with that chain too.
I threw some degreaser on there (bout a whole can's worth)
Scraped enough grime off there to make a legit sandcastle
Then I put the vortex set on there
(-1 in the front, rear was stock (and mailed black for free!) )
IMO it's a bit tight, and I'm sure she'll stretch a bit.
Got the sprockets and a barely used o-ring for under 60 bucks shipped
Knocked off a link with my dremmel (took 3 minutes)
Now she's back to being as pretty as can be.
Next up : Brakes, and New brake/clutch levers!

I've always used a clip master link for 12 years worth of chains which has been about 12 chains. This was mainly due to the fact that I never had a rivet tool. I stumble across a motion pro heavy duty chain rivet tool for $40 and snatched it up a few months ago. It was a bit of a pain in the bum to use compared to the clip type. This was mainly due to the fact that you have to be careful of pushing the rivet too far.
I agree with chuck on the chain... overdue for replacement.
