I’m thinking about fitting a volt meter to my f3 but not sure where would be the best (easiest) place to fit the live feed ? Any help, info , much appreciated ,

There is a 8P connector up behind the gauge cluster. The Black/Brown wire is the 12v fused (from fuse #3) supply for the gauges and lights in the cluster. Depending on where you mount your meter, tapping into that wire on one side of the connector or the other would be a good source. Volt meters don't draw much current, they usually have high impedance because they only have to sense the voltage, not consume. That would be my recommendation.
