use car tranny fluid for fork oil
I just did a folk old change last weekend. I noticed the consistency of the fork oil (10 W) are almost the same as the tranmission fluid ( ? W) for my camry. The tranny fluid is much cheaper too. One gallon for about $6 buck and that is lot for of fluid for 4 fork oil change. Two bottle for two front fork is about $16 from the dealer. Any ideas guy, drop a line or two. Thanks

RE: use car tranny fluid for fork oil
ATF has some very specific properties for transmission work....its like water from a viscosity standpoint. While I am sure it would "work"...its a great hydralic fluid and lubricant...I wouldn't do it.
Fork oil is available in weights from 0-20. if you insist on cheaping out, a 0w20 motor oil might work...but even I am not that cheap.
Repsol non-synthetic fork oil is cheap, as is Maxima....like $5-7/quart.
