Default Temp sensor for f3->f4i gauge swap

I know what Im looking for, but man they are hard to find.

I'm wondering what is the best way to avoid snapping the old thermo sensor in its place? I've heard that seems to be the case bcs the sensor has been in there for so long, many cases have said the sensor gets corroded in there and snaps if you apply too much pressure in removing it?

Can i use something like a solvent or something to loosen it up a bit before removal?

Also, like I alluded to at the top, i just cant find them anywhere, the RR sensors that is... anyone have a lead on where i can get one? tried ebay, craigslist, kijiji, or should i just order an OEM replacement? The ones i found on ebay seem to be new, and I believe i need something from a 98-99 900rr.

many thanks!

Yes be very careful, I snapped mine off and had to drill out, after that the head cracked and I used JB weld to hold head together to put new temp sensor in, but it doesn't read. Have a new head off a newer F3 just havent had time to put it in the bike yet

I bought some autozone branded "bolt breaker" in an aerosol can for about $4, sprayed the old sensor down really good about 3 times in 15 minute intervals before slowly taking it out. I had no problems.

As far as the new sensor, I got mine from ronayers.com. It is part number 37750-KV3-951 (number 8 on that diagram) and was $34.56 brand new, about $10-15 cheaper than anywhere else I found. They shipped pretty fast and I keep going back to them for other parts cause I've been happy with them.

Good luck!

Tbow is spot on, it's the 99/00 900 sensor. There aren't any deals, just by it. Pre-soaking is definetly the way to go. I didn't have any issue, either. I did use Teflon tape on the new sensor's threads.

I was lucky as I had no issues with mine coming loose. i would mirror what everybody else has said. Just take your time & don't use too much pressure.

David Silver Spares here in the UK sell a pattern version. I would'nt think that postage would be too expensive.

Isn't it the same as the one on the VTR1000?
