Tried touching the sensor wire to the engine casing, gauge needle moved slightly further than had been doing.

Should I be looking at the gauge itself next? Do these sensors ever fail?

I was riding my F3 in the St. Patty's Day Parade in Denver yesterday.

As the engine heat built up, I noticed the fan was not kicking on. In checking it, the lead from the temperature sender had come off when I was toweling off the bike.

Make sure your electronics are doing what they're supposed to do.

He means if you boil it (place it in a pot of water on the stove) you'll see the spring expand and open the cap, if its f:/-;d it will stay closed.
I was wanting to ask what antifreeze your running, ie is it premix or are you mixing it? Some antifreezes run your bike too cold like that repco brand for example. May be something as simple as that.

its St paddy's day st patrick and the irish slang for patrick is paddy

you trying to insult dec here? he lives in ireland haha

dec i think when you ground out the wire it should hit the top bar so i would check the connections again maybe and then check the motherboard on the gauges

remove the thermostat cover pull the little thing inside it out

whack it in a pan of boiling water and see what happens, if its broke bin it and just put cover back on will take a little more time to get warm but not a big issue unless you drive under 0 c what coolant you using halfords ? that doesnt keep it from being too cool
