starting issue
So I'm having a bit of an issue, bike is a 97 600f3. I bought it about a month and a half ago. First week I had it everything was fine and dandy was starting and running no problem. Then I started to have starting issues.
I would hit the starter button and it would slowly turn over, okay dead battery bike had been sitting. Bought a new battery. Slapped her in and started back up again. Was great for about 2 weeks. One day went to start it, cranked fine and then back to the slow cranking again.
So now I'm starting to think I have a charging issue however my battery is at 12 volts when the bike is off. I boosted it today and it started and ran no problem. Did a voltage watch while it was running was staying between 11.7 and 11. No real voltage loss. Came back from a ride around the block. Shut it off now I have nothing. Hit the starter button it doesnt do a thing.
Is this a stator, regulator or any other ideas as to what could possibly be going on?

its not charging. while running, it should be 13.5v to 14.5v with rpm. could be regulator or the stator. probably the regulator, but follow testing procedures to determine which. being they are working together, one can take the other out. i replaced both at the same time, just to be on the safe side. they are working the same and of the same age. i don't want to go back and forth always having a charging problem. but thats just me.
I can boost it off my jeep and it cranks no problem which is leading me to believe its not starter. Unless I dont have enough cranking amps of the battery to get the starter to turn over. When i get some time, I'm going to check all the connections and do a voltage check at the starter.

so I took the fairings off and inspected today and I found a wire off the fuel pump? that was run down to the fuse box and shoved down underneath the starter,fuel pump ignition solenoid fuse. could that cause a drainage of my battery?

well finally got it started again last night. Im leaning towards it being a starter switch issue. When it was running and was up at 4k rpm i was getting a constant 14.6 volts. So I'm really doubting it to be r/r or stator related. are the switches on the handle bars known for breaking?
I have voltage at the starter, when it first started cranking we played with the wiring going into the switch on the handle bars and it hesitated to start a few times.

The starter switch itself is known for having the wires break loose from the solder joints internally. They can be soldered back on easily enough. The ignition key switch contacts get dirty as well and sometimes you can have problems starting the bike. You can take it apart and clean the contacts in that as well.
You might check the starter relay and associated wiring. Might be a bad connection there. Generally don't see a lot of complaints/questions of the handle bar controls.
That doesn't mean it ain't possible, but the controls are delivering power to the relay or it wouldn't try to turn-over (weak or not). My next quess is the circuit on the load side of the relay. i.e. battery>relay>starter circuit. Check all the connections there.
