Some say I shouldn't spend $ to fix my bike. What do you think?

Default Some say I shouldn't spend $ to fix my bike. What do you think?

I have been told by some people on here and on other forums that my F3 would probably not be worth fixing up. I am curious what anyone might think and post it here.

It has a jet kit installed and from what I understand is almost as fast as some of the newest bikes. Of course, this is not a major concern since it will be for my soon to be 16yo daughter. It also gas GP shifting which after hearing from everyone else, I will be switching back for her benefit.

I paid $850

I need:

Front and rear Shinko 009 Raven tires $132
All new plastics at $749
Paint fuel tank to match fairings $100
New chain and sprockets $170
New fairing bolts $60
New grips $40
A good tune up after sitting 2 years $Free to $400(guessing if it were done at Honda)

well the decider should be the engine. How many miles does it have on it? If it is too much then dont use so much $ to fix her up.

and if the engine ticks, or as any other probs then I would not bother to work on her so much.

Motorcycles are a black hole that sucks in Time and Money

if you are good and take the time im sure you can piece some plastics together. that is how i did my F3. Look on stuntlife.com and sportbike.net etc for parting out bikes check craigslist, i mean hell look on everyforum you can find motorcycle related. I found great deals and then there is always ebay. and as long as the motor and frame/forks check out good then id say keep it. hell you could go ultra cheap and fighter that thing. they look good done right.

seeing that youre giving it to your 16 year old daughter to ride i wouldnt worry about the following
bodywork
bodywork bolts
grips
paint

and for the love of god dont put her on Shinkos. get a decent set of michilens or bridgestones for her. i mean wanting to put new bodywork and paint on and then sending her out on shinkos is just throwing money down the toilet
