Default Shorty Exhaust - Increase Packing?

I made some comments on a thread earlier today about how the Shorty MotoGP-Style exhaust being sold on EBay would be illegal in NY because of the decibel level. I really like the looks of that short of an exhaust pipe, and love the fact that it does not need to be hung from the rear peg mount. Does anyone with some exhaust knowledge know if it would be possible to increase the amount of packing in the pipe to decrease the noise level and increase the back-pressure? And how you would go about doing that?

Thanks in advance!

Any pipe that doesn`t have the DOT stamp on it is in violation of federal law whenoperated on the street, but that law is pretty much never enforced. Denver has a local law that lets police ticket a parked bike that doesn`t have a stamped pipe, and a similar law has been proposed in NYC, but seems stalled for now.

How does the shorty pipe sound now? Chances are if it`s not really obnoxious, you`ll never have a problem unless you run across a police officer who just wants to write you up for everything in the book.

*DROOLS* Your pics and video clip are the reason I am asking about this topic. That just looks and sounds AWESOME! I am bidding on one on EBay right now! I guess I will probably just have to find out trial-and-error-style if the law or my neighbors or sleeping family are gonna throw a sh*t fit over it.

Cheers! [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

When you first start up your bike it is kinda loud but as it warms up the sound calms down to a nice rumble
and then of course gets louder when you get on it.

I cannot wait for summer to hear it on the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just won the auction on EBay for $60.99 - I guess all of my questions will be answered in a few days. [sm=crossbonesgif.gif] I did notice in the description that it mentions repacking, so I will have to see what that is all about.

Glad to hear you got one
When you go to put it on there is a spacer inside the clamp
take that spacer and put it on the end of the headers then
put the clamp over that to get a nice tight fit. it took me
a little bit to figure that out (I am sofa king retarted)

As for what it says about repacking the directions with it
only say to disassemble the pipe for repacking cause it
has a screw in the side of the pipe.

After looking at your pics and watching your video, I just could not pass up the opportunity to own one!!

Thanks for the pointer! And your little quip at the end gave me a chuckle - I have not heard the sofa king reference in years!! [sm=smiley20.gif]

I guess that will not be much help in what actually needs to happen to repack a pipe - especially one with so little space for packing in the first place.

Im sure if you jet your bike correctly there should not
be that much of an issue with running lean, except
for those realllllllly hot days
