Ya know, you would think that. But I can tell you (and some of you may remember) that last year, maybe a year and a half ago, there was someone on ebay that was selling a brand new, 1998 SJR 600 F3 that had 1 mile on the odometer. It was never ridden. It was stored since then and he couldn't sell it for $5000. I mean think about it. If you had $5000 and the opportunity to buy 10 year old motorcycle, or a 3 year old fuel injected rocket, which would you buy. Keep in mind that as soon as you started to ride that bike with 1 mile on it, it would be worth half that.

(ok, if I just won that PowerBall in KY, then I'd buy them both)

This person is completely out of touch with reality.

Guys just stuffing you around, getting people interested by stating a lower price, an old ruse. Don't even go by the book, give him your number & tell him if he wants to sell for the original asking price then he's got till the New Year, which is when your going to start looking elsewhere. (& if your feeling really twisted, offer him $500 less).
Also, apart from what everyone else has suggested you look for, the age (year of manufacture) of the tyres is on the side wall, 4 or 5 letter+number code ending with the year made.

I agree with you completely. I personally would buy the newer one. But there's probably someone out there that has a thing for that style of bike.

You'd run into the same problem RojerLockless had with his F4i: too pretty to ride.

I'd get that bike at $3k with every intention of sealing it behind glass as a showcase piece At $2k its ridable. At $5k its a crackpipe dream on the owner's part

Yeah I agree. To me, "too nice to ride" means I can't have fun on it. that takes away from the purpose of a bike

BTW, you did give him my number right?? I'm a patient man.. it may take a few months, but he'll come down to a more reasonable price and by then you'll have some other F3... LOL. So I get a road trip out of it anyway...
