Replace Wire Harness... Any tips?

Well the weather is nicer and the days are longer. Time to start pulling everything together.
So anyone got any tips on replacing the wire harness? Figure to start at the fairing stay and work back from there, following the original harness' routing.
Oh and WTF does the speed sensor look like? Anyone got any pics? Would like the speedo to work on the new gauges. So it'd be nice if I knew what it looked like so I can make sure to connect it (if it isn't connected)?

I've got a few harness laying around that I use for parts. I removed all the tape these harnesses and then pull out the circuits I need to repair. I also used these extra harnesses to replace the plastic connectors. You'll need a tiny a$$ flat head screw driver you reach into the plug and push down the pin. This will allow you to remove the wire from the plastic connector.
Regarding the speed sensor, it's on the back side of the engine and on top of the transmission. It's almost covered up by the starter motor. It's a little round thing that is about the size of a nickel in diameter. The harness coming out of it is Green, Pink, and Black (if I remember correctly). It's held down by two bolts and pulls right out. If you pull it out, you'll most likely have to replace the o-ring around it. I'm sure you've seen how some of the o-rings that are as old as the bike is get flattened from heat, pressure, and time. The sensor is magnetic, so make sure nothing has stuck to the sensor.

Actually when I got my gauges from chuckbear, I got a complete wire harness.

With the starter relay looking like that, a mystery short that'll drain the battery in 2 - 3 days (but not affect bike operation) and having pulled a mysterious 4' splice wire from the left clipon to the ignition (no bullchit) I'm writing off the old harness completely.

the actual connector for the speed sensor is a white 3 pin on the right side of the bike pretty much lonely on top of the harness....I would recommend investing in a speedo healer...takes about 10 minutes to hook up and 2 minutes to program...rode my bike home last night(first ride since december) and my speedo is dead on now...
