Default Rectifier wiring.

Hey Guys,
Well I like 98% of us on here has finally had my rectifier go, and I have gone onto ebay and bought an aftermarket heavy duty GSXR one and apart from being 25% bigger in size it all looks fine. The new one is fitted with 3 yellow wires and a red and a black wire no problems here, but I just want to confirm wiring up to my honda loom.
Here is a photo of my old loom and rectifier:

The 3 yellow wires are no problem as I think you can not mix up? as they are all the same?
The red with white will go to the Red on the new rectifier, and the Blue goes to the black on the new rectifier, what about the green wire? do I just earth that out with the other green wires that are already earthed out onto the regulator plate?

Thanks In advance
Weegee

I am about to go down this same boat, how did you confirm for sure your rectifier was bad? Also, let me know if you find out any information about the GSXR one fitting, I am probably going to go that route as well if I can.

Check You Voltage at your bat when your bike is running for starters, should be reading about 14.4V. Mine was way up and my battery was being over charged and I could smell rotten eggs.

Last time I checked that it read good, my battery only acts up once in a while.. Since you have a Rectifier issue could you check out my thread under F3 forums titled "Rectifier", where I explain what happened and tell me if you think that is it? Tahnks

Yeah I don't know mate sorry i doesn't seem straight forward with normal symptoms.
I would just go through check all connections and your issues remain change the rectifier. I think i have heard of these things playing up for a little while before they go too.

I'm very interested in how you go as well. Mine seems like it's on it's way out too. When I blip the throttle, the dim guages and headlight brighten a fair bit and I occasionally get a surging on the hwy as if it's time to turn over to reserve. I would put it down to a fuel issue if the dimming and brightening of the lights didn't happen.

the gsxr ones are a PITA to wire... in all honesty, i bought the R/R from japan on ebay that was like 20 bucks from hong kong. the OEM replacement except the one with the cooling fins, it has worked on my bike like a champ for more than a year with no problems. and i figured if it blew then i can always buy another one for 20bucks

My bike has yet to have any starting problems what so ever since i changed it. It might be something to look into

I don't see how you can have wiring problems? Red is hot, black/white is ground, yellow is charging, green is ground.... just like any other, simple
