Default question regarding sprocket conversion

I need to do a sprocket conversion on my project bike.

The rear sprocket is for a 530 chain (VFR 750 F sprocket), the front is my stock F3 (525 chain). In order to get them to match, i need to do the 520 conversion.

My question is that if i buy a 520 front sprocket off ebay, listed for a 95-97 F3, will it be a bolt on to the 98 F3? my suspicion tells me yes, but i want to be sure.

Can anyone confirm that?

Of course it would just be easier to get a 525 sprocket for the back, but they dont offer it in the VFR size, and all the custom sprocket places i've tried have not returned my emails.

always something.

95-96 used 530 setup. I wouldn't go 520 they use the soft aluminum rear sprockets. Imo they do not hold up as well as steel sprockets

I understand that.

However unless i find someone to make a custom VFR sprocket that will fit a 525 chain, I don't have too many options. And like i said, no one has returned my emails regarding custom sprockets. So unless i get lucky and someone returns my emails, the 520 conversion is the best i can do.

My question wasn't weather the chains would work, but whether or not the 98 F3 front sprocket are interchangeable with the older F3 front sprockets.

I cant find a 1998 front sprocket for a 520 chain, but i can find older models that support it. I'm treading into water i know nothing about, so I'm looking for help.

I would prefer to stick with my 525 chain and sprocket, and just replace the rear, simply for cost effectiveness. I've dropped a lot of cash on this bike, replacing the chain and sprockets wasn't something i had accounted for.

Any assistance would be nice.
cheers,
n

I was going to go to a vortex 520 42t sprocket. pay a little for a better product IMO.
