Default price for an f3?

I am looking at buying a 96 f3 with 28,000 miles. Bike starts up and sounds like a beauty. Does have a noticeable scuff on the right side and few scratches here and there but is a beautiful bike. I live in chicago, and would like to know what do these typically go for, and what should i pay?

Can't say for Chicago, but here in Tulsa, you're looking at $2600-$3200, tops.
It looks good in the pics.

Check to see if the maintenance has been done.
At 18,000 it's due a valve-check and/or adjustment. Scope out brake-pad wear,
condition of the fork-seals, steering-head bearings and chain/sprockets condition.

If those aren't all top-notch, be prepared and plan for at least, a $300-600 budget for
after-purchase costs. Realistically, even if the things I've mentioned ARE in good
shape, something you missed will need attention. Especially on a 10+ year old bike,
it's a good idea to budget for the un-anticipated.

Good luck, Ern

the only f3's, here in the midwest, that ive seen listed for over $2000 had various mods and custom work.
but for mainly stock, complete f3's they usually go for around $1800

Seller is asking $2,000..but I'm going to try and go up to him with 1800 cash(he's a personal friend) They run that much in Tulsa? holy cow. I do know the tires were put on last riding season, so are pretty new. The chain is in really good shape well lubricated and no rust. I will check for those it'll honestly maybe be a few months before i get the bike, but this is def what i want and is the only thing within my budget. Ern, i see you on here all the time and thanks you always give great advice to everyone. Not many mod's on this, the only i know of is a brothers exhaust other then that i think its pretty bare stock..i just wanted to make sure i wasn't paying too much. Everybody is telling me like 15-1600 and that 2000's way to high.

I just paid $2900. That is in New Jersey, though, and I bought the bike from a dealer. It has 22k on the odometer and I posted some pics in this forum. Title of post: Brought my f3 home today. (it's near the top) Happy shopping.

The bike looks to be in good clean shape so I would say that 2000 would be a decent price. I'm sure if you brought him 1800 cash he would not pass it up. In the Atlanta area they go for around 3000. I bought my 95 f3 for 2500 and sold it 2.5 yrs later for 2400.

IMO if you are going to buy an f3 for around that much id shoot for a 97-98 model. They had better looking tails and ram air intake was better as well. I paid 1700 for my 97 f3 with 9k miles on it last year. just some food for thought!
