Gpfan, I'm guessing your original assumption is correct about the lean condition, today I was riding and usually when I get out of first after the bike is warm I hear what I thought was a clutch noise, sounded metallic, kinda a grinding/buzzing sound, today after warming up I heard the same noise as usual, but while riding I closed the choke partially and the noise stopped... Could this noise be because of a lean condition? Spark knock? And on a side note I got completely schooled by a 91 civic today in a strait line from a dig, was embarrassing, I'm chalking it up to power loss to preserve my pride.

Pull your plugs and see what color they are. Should be a tan color. White or grey would support the lean theory. Sounds like your issue is getting worse. You should do a compression/leak down test when you pull the plugs.

You should pull the carbs and their float bowls and clean all jets and airways. When you do this, screw in the pilot jet adjusting screws and count the number of turns out from fully closed. Don't tighten them down, just lightly. Do this for each carb and write it down. See what size main and pilot jets you are running.
