Default Are People Asking Too Much For Their F3s?

I've been continuing my search for an F3 and I'm starting to get worried that these will be getting more and more expensive as spring comes along. Kelly Blue Book has them valued at $2,200ish for a 1995 F3 and up to $2,700ish for a 1998. That is in or below my price range and I'm ok with that lol. But looking at bikes online they are all about $800 give or take OVER the kbb value. I know you can talk people down, but seems like it will be difficult. One bike in my area is a 1997 F3 that is $3,500 "firm" it has 17k miles and it doesn't look all that special. The fairings look to be repainted black with no decals or anything. That is an extreme example but many are not that far off.

How flexible are people going to be when it comes to buying one of these things? How much did you talk someone down to buy yours? Any advice or tips are welcomed. I'm looking to buy from someone and not a dealership. Sorry if this has been covered before.

Thank you.

Yes, the people asking for that kind of money are out of their mind. The reasonably priced CBRs are out there, you just have to be patient and persistant. A new member here just picked up a sweet 98 F3 for $2498 off ebay. It had just under 6K miles and was in excellent condition. Wish those people good luck with their junk and keep looking.

You might try contacting the seller of this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda...#ht_500wt_1014

Its an SJR with 6k on the clock. The guy is asking $3300 but this is the 2nd time its been listed with 0 bids. Email him an offer of $2700 firm if that's your range and see what he says.

I drove 300 miles round trip but I picked up a 96 for with 15k on it for $1600. Needs a new rear brake rotor and a couple of screws on the front fairing. The tail fairing is cracked but it's been bondo'd from the inside and repainted. Even after all that is fixed I'm still gonna be under $2000. Just remember "Cash talk"

Haha you're close by. I'm actually at school in Kenosha WI right now, but still pretty close. Thanks for offering to look for a bike. I'm not quite ready to pull the trigger money wise. Unless something is amazingly cheap.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I spent 5 months looking for my F3, i was looking for the Ross white/red paint scheme 96 model, a lot of time on crazedlist.org and i finally found it, in Las Vegas, $2,000 and an 18 hour round trip day, I got it, biggest problem i see around here is people want what they paid for it, so if they got screwed last season they are looking to pass it on to you, i lucked out and got one with 16K on the clock, k&N, full Vance and Hines SSR2 exhaust jetted, and fender eliminator, and the seller threw in two helmets, a jacket, gloves, a bike ramp, a bike cover, a ton of extra parts and every service invoice since the original sale from the dealer to boot, just because i was willing to make the trip and pay cash. ha ha

I paid $7,000 to drive off with my bike from the stealership. Hmm... maybe I could try and sell my 97 F3 with 74K on the clock for $7,000?

For me personally the guy i got my 96 F3 from wanted 2500 for it...

Long story short (about a two week process talking with the guy) I traded my 99 Ninja 250 that I had air born, burnouts, etc the night before for the F3.

A day and a couple of hundred bucks later I was enjoying the bike

So do bike prices go up much in the spring because of the higher demand? Or does it stay about the same because people want to sell them to get something bigger? I know there were plenty of bikes for dirt cheap in the fall. I just don't want to wait till this coming fall. I wanna ride now! After my msf class of course.

Thanks for the input!
