Default Painting Tank

I hope this question isnt asked too often, or is a stupid question... But does anyone have any idea about how much it would cost to get just a tank painted? I am part of a few car forums, and for cars it ranges greatly in price, but i figured since a tank is such a small surface area, there would be a more generalized cost range. So if anyone can help me out with what you think a general price would be id appreciate it. I've been thinking a few hundred bucks, but wasnt sure.

Thanks!
Jason

Default It depends...

To get my old bike painted it cost me 400 and that was the complete bike. It depends on the shop, type of paint, and of course the design. If you have the time a tank is prob. a good project to learn how to paint. I learned on my second bike and now i am painting my current bike. I will post pics when complete. But If you take it to a good shop and are trying to match the other paint on the bike I can't see you spending more than $200 for a pretty good job

I'm getting my entire kit and tank painted for about $400 at Maaco.

Prep is usually the most expensive. With my tank, the stickers were under the clearcoat and I got it sandblasted down to bare.

I would love to learn how to paint but the air compressor i have access to is only like 6-7 cfm... Its too small to paint with, but yeah, i've always wanted to paint something myself. And the fairings im getting are the ones from hong kong off of ebay, and the seller said he would supply the correct paint for the tank for free. so would a paint shop use paint that the customer provides? Or is that like 'against the rules', i feel like it would be like taking your own parts to a garage and saying 'put them on for me'.
