Hmmmmm thats strange.
Honda speedo's and trip meters rarley fail.
They may give anincorrect mph reading at speed but the units dont start clicking backwards unless someone has opened the speedo unit and messed with the units odometer.
That is the only thing I can think of unless the bike was crashed and had big time front end damage that effected the instrument cluster.
Next time you have the fairing off take a look at the back of the instrument cluster.
Each screw that holds the speedo unit together has a paint dot on the screws head.
If the paint dots don't match up with the back of the instrument cluster and the screw headsthen you know someone has tampered with bikes millage.

**** this forum is irritating!!!!
My trip button is in three peices and causes the broken parts to tamper with the reset. Take the cluster apart from the surround and see if you have the same issue.
