Default Odometer issues, California

Ok here is a strange problem, i actually need to increase the mileage shown on my odometer. I bought the bike about 8 years ago and the guage cluster was in such bad shape i decided to pick up another one. The bike actually has 9xxx, miles on it but the new guages i have show 1k. I have to take the bike in for inspection at the chp to get a new title and since it only appears to have 1k miles on it, they are going to make me install all sorts of emissions goodies, is there anyway i can increase the odometer to what the bike actually has on it?

There is a company called Bluegauges that corrects millage on gauge clusters. It looks like they correct them on digital gauges, but the '97-'98 F3s are electrically controlled in a similar fashion so maybe they can work with it (unless they are actually messing with the programming of the cluster, which may be the case).

Im not sure if the older F3s are the same way, but I deffinetly know F2s and below are mechanically controlled. It wouldnt hurt to shoot them and email and see what they say

I live in calif. as well. I think most of the emission regulations are related to the year of manufacture not the mileage.

Thanks for the reply guys. I sure wish Mike! I was at the dmv for 3 hours yesterday and that is was one of the things they told me, 8k miles or it needs emissions parts

Can you just take apart the cluster unit and replace speedometer gauge unit only? Thats what I did. After I crashed on the track my gauges got completely destroyed. But speedometer gauge survived. So I bought new gauges and swapped speedo gauge.

That is an option too i suppose. After looking at the manual it appears you can take the cover off the gauges pretty easily, 9 screws i think, not sure it its possible to move the odometer dials though?

Problem solved, removed the face plate which was pretty darn easy, about 9 screws. Next to the numbers on the face of the odometer there is actually small teeth for the gearing system. I used a dental pick to move a number, bike went from 1113 miles to 81113, meant to do 8k but this will work lol.

Thanks,

Blake
