noob with a smokin joe and ??s
hey guys finally picked up a 1998 600 smokin joe edition with 14,xxx miles in really good shape. Downfall, it does have a salvage title but i made sure i checked the bike up and down and everythings good and runs great. got it for a good price too.
few questions tho..
1. i havent ridden the bike for that long or kept it running that long but the temp guage doesnt seem to be making it to the center?it moves about 1/4 but thats it.
2. the bike was dropped once pretty hard but with little damage. the bar end on the right side(throttle) has some play in it..how do i fix that? and also the brake lever is bent, do i need to take off that whole piece to fix it?
3. where can i get a front rim for the smokin joe? are all f3s the same? mine has a nice dent in it but the front forks seem ok..
4. where the hell do you guys keep your papers? the only compartment is under the seat that oesnt come up..
ill have other quesntions and also whats the best way to put pics on here it keeps failing my pics

Ok, I can answer some of your question, congrats on your new bike by the way.
1/ Temp gauge is ok, you will find it'll go up a bit more if your stuck in traffic.
2/ The bar end has a Phillips head screw in it that you tighten, if you mean your throttle has play, they all do to a degree, if excessive then the whole throttle/switch need to be moved slightly over toward the end of the bar (I did say slightly). You can have the brake lever replaced (& i mean just the lever), its no big deal (except that Honda loves to charge big for its bits, so check out a bike wreckers for one that will suite your bike. The same set up is on a lot of Honda models, not just CBR's.
3/ I can tell you the sizes of the rims are the same, but aren't the Joe's yellow?, try Ebay.
4/ The side covers have to come off & a bolt on either side of the seat undone before the seat lifts off, don't leave any papers under the seat, gives away to much information if your bike gets hiked.
