Default newbie questions

I have a 97 f3 with a K&N and a D&D slip should I re-jet the carbs?
Most importantly my tach isn't working. When I first got the bike it
would work every now and then but now not at all.Any ideas on what
to check.I already checked the one wire from the rr.
Thanks in advanced for the help.

Check to see if the plugs behind the gauges are tight for the tach...

If your bike is running fine...you dont need to do anything with the jets..if it isnt running fine, get rid of the K+N and switch to stock..the performance upgrade of the K+N is not worth the jetting, and carb resyncing...(about $200)

I kind of thought that about the jetting but i've got the carbs off
now (as well as everything else-that is another story though)
and this wouldbe the time to do it if needed.I haven't had the
bike long andhave only put a few miles on it.
