hey yall so im most likely picking up my first bike in a few days

its a 96 with 19k on the clock witha jacket and helmet for 2k from a old friend

the bike needs a regulator rectifier is this difficult to do? also would a stock one be the best if so were should i get one??

thanks if theres anything i should know about the bike please let me know it is in good condition and has a custom marble looking paint job (not that i care it will most likely get dropped sooner or later)

thanks!

the r/r from honda is junk, don't use it, if you do get one, get a gsxr or r6/1 instead.

regarding installation, a lot of people that have done it say it's easy but since i haven't done mine yet i can't say much but the members who have done it already will chime in for that

or you can just do a search anywhere basically, here's one that i was reading a few days ago

another thing that you'll have to look out for is the cam chain tensioner... you'll know when its starting to go by ticking on the right side of the motor (if your sitting on it, your right). dont worry too much though, its an easy fix.

+1.

Here's a good thread on it:

How do you know this is the problem?

Of all the common problems this bike has, the CCT is the least. Stop scaring people with this crap.

Can you use a screwdriver without impaling yourself or any nearby stray puppies? If so, you can replace the r/r

Impaling stray cats instead of puppies gets you bonus points in my book

R/R is cheap and easy fix. Here is what I did with mine. Dont even think of buying Hondas one. I got one from Gixer. Just make sure it has 5 wires, not 7. Ebay has plenty of them.
