New problems on the F3
So i posted earlier regarding how the bike wasnt starting, and after replacing the fuel filter the bike started up. Now comes a new problem. I set the idle valve to high, above 3000 rpm because it kept stuttering out when it fell beflow 3k. I took it for a ride and whenever i slowed the bike down the bike would fall flat and die. So then I kept revving it to keep it alive, but every time i put it into gear and the rpm fell the bike would die again. Theres absolutely no problem with acceleration, so it makes me believe its not a fuel problem. Also when i have the choke on the bike stays alive, but when i push the **** away from me to turn it off, the bike turns off. Surprisingly the only way I could ride the bike was when the choke was still on....so now i dont know whats wrong, but im thinking its a problem with the carburetor. Anybody have any similar problems or ideas?

well i have to be honest, if your planning on doing this yourself you'll need a manual to look at, but thats only if you are fairly mechanically inclined. carbs are a bad place to start if your looking to learn how to work on a bike. the idle jet is one if the many small peices inside of the carbs.
thanks for the advice.....uh unfortunately i read the writeup that was on this forum, and it seemed easy enough. So i went ahead but ran into a few setbacks. one.....where the hell is the waterpump valve that im supposed to disconnect? and two.......i guess the previous owner stripped the choke screw so i cant seem to remove it. if i drill it out how should i go about it:? any advice? once the carbs are off it seems pretty simple, i didnt realize i was going to run into so many snags along the way, thanks for ur replies once again.

not sure what the hell they are talking about with a water pump valve that has to do with the carbs. so how is the screw stripped? is the phillips head slot stripped or are the threads? are the screws counter sunk or rounded top and can you get ahold of them with needle nose vice grips? if they are countersunk, then take a dremmel tool and slightly grind a new slot that you can fit a flathead screw driver. if they are rounded top then you should be able to get ahold of them with some needle nose vice grips. mind you the metal is very soft, and this is not the proper way to do this, but the screw is trash. you need to get new screws.
Seafoam is a gas additive that works like "gas teatment" is supposed to.It is killer.6 bucks at Advance Auto.If a bike has been sitting and "doesn't quite run right",Seafoam is a quick and cheap try.
thanks for the replies f3racer and kjohnson. The screws are phillip heads and its rounded top. The threads not stripped its the head thats stripped. I tried gripping them with needle nose pliers and it didnt work. dont have a dremel available to cut slots on them either. I bought an extractor bit but it doesn't work too well and if anything makes the problem just worse. I feel rather uncomfortable drilling the screws out, so i might just go buy a dremel tomorrow. Ill keep you guys posted.
