Default New to the CBR world!

I just bought a 96 CBR 600 last night. I already love it! It came without any fairings or gauge cluster. I need to make it legal so that I can get it inspected and such. Do I have to have a speedometer for them to pass it? What are some of the requirements? I live in Texas. Here are some pics below.

I would like to eventually mount a small tach and speedo. I kinda like not having the fairings on the front. Idk. I may change my mind..

I'm not sure why the guy striped the fairings.. oh well...
Here's another pic

Hey, Not to sure but you may need it I live in VA it varies state to state. I have the same rear seat cover can you take a pic of how its mounted? I purchased mine on ebay and didnt have any mounting hardware! Also he may have stripped it because it was dropped. He prob. figured it was to expesive for new fairings and just turned it into a street fighter. Good luck with the bike.

Yeah I can take some pics of the seat cover tomorrow. If you look closely at the pic it has a screw that goes into a v shaped piece of metal that just clips under the seats edge.

Also, I'm having some problems with the front brake, it works fine it just wont trigger the tail light. The back brake will, so I know its not a burnt out high beam.

Thanks for the pic! Check behind the brake lever there's a button behind there...follow the wire going to that to see if there's any damage to it. It may even be the button
