I have bought 2 motorcycles not knowing the parts bike has the same problem as the other. the parts bike came from a motorcycle shop that gave up on it. new charging system , new batt, new pickup, new coil packs, new carbs, compression is good on all cylinders . both bikes start and run great sitting in the shop rev fine. 1st gear is ok hit 2nd and it bogs and cuts out. same prob with both bikes . any ideas??

Sounds like speed sensor air solenoid - have you done the bypass? A faulty solenoid will do just that - bog down above 25 mph or so - just as you are catching second.

Ok, so from the pointers here and some other searching I've done, this is what I've come up with for my first round of Maintenence.

New fuel filter
Air cleaner (BMC?)
Spark plugs (NGK)
Oil (Rotella t6 Synthetic) 10W-40
Oil filter (Mobil M1-1-110)
Radiator Coolant (engine Ice)
Brake Fluid (will be looking over the pads and calipers closely, I have some major pulsing I'm concerned with)
Chain (520)
Sprockets (15/43)
Galfer Braided front lines
Speed Bleeder

Now, how does that all sound? Am I missing anything? Any suggestions on chain/sprocket manufacturer/material? Anything special I should know about any of these pieces/parts?
