NEED SOME HELP please!!!!!
hey whats up guys i have a 1996 honda cbr everytime i ride the bike and i get on it a lil it turns off and the oil light comes on? what could be the cause of this? i just put a brand new oem honda fuel pump on it. could it be low on oil? idk this is my first bike and i need a little help guys thank you
Have you checked the oil level? That would be the 1st thing to check.
If this is your 1st bike, have you changed the oil since you got the bike? That's always one of the 1st things you should do when you get a new, used vehicle.

dam i never thought about it, thanks man ill change that this weekend then ill update u and see if that works or not
No worries at all. When you change the oil, make sure you use motorcycle oil and change the filter. Also, make sure you don't put in more than the recommended amount. Bikes are pretty picky about that. Finally, make sure you take the bike of the kickstand when you are reading the dipstick. It has to be pretty much totally level, both side to side and front to back or your reading will be off.

Yep, they have dipsticks. But even at that, your reading will be off if you have your bike leaning on its kickstand. Think about checking the oil in your car, the engine is pretty much level when you do check it. That's all you are going for on a bike. If you can change the oil in a car, you can change the oil in a motorcycle. It's the same principal.

What model 1996 Honda CBR do you have? It either has a dipstick or a site glass. Remember, after you change the oil and filter the level will not be accurate until you run the engine for a minute and let the new oil circulate through the new filter. Then, turn it off, let it sit for 10+ minutes and check the oil level with both tires touching the ground and the bike held in an upright, balanced position (not on the stand).
If you're not sure of how much oil it takes it might be a good idea to search for an owner's manual or a service manual if you plan on doing your own routine maintenance.

If you're good on oil it might be a faulty kickstand switch. If it ONLY does it in gear and while moving I wouldn't be surprised. In any case the advice is sound, drain the oil completely and replace the filter and refill it to Honda spec (which at filter change should be 3.9 US quarts). If its still doing it, either its the kickstand switch, or MAYBE your oil pump?
He has another thread of a video of the bike. In that video he fires up the bike and let's it purr. The bike is on its stand and in N. Not long into it, the bike dies giving the very symptoms he describes.
So if its not low oil, I'd say its his oil pump as you suggested.
