need help finding out a problem!
Rode my bike to the gym, started fine when i left. did my PT and went to leave and get ready for work, bike turns over for 2 sec and dies. try again, same thing. i put the choke on, didnt even turn over. i let it sit for about 5 min and tryed again. this time it didnt evn try. lights came on but when i pushed the button to start the lights dimmed. i just put a new battery in it last sunday (june 12th 2011). i had to take the truck to work
. after work went to see if maybe it would start and the lights came on but didnt start. i had to push the bike a mile to my place. tried popping the clutch and it ALMOST started but after that the lights didnt even come on. Could somethin be draining the battery? if so what could it be?! also thought it could be the starter. any help is great! I JUST WANNA RIDE!!!!!!!!
It sounds like it could be the r/r once it goes out it will keep killing the battery. The factory r/r will run hot and die. somtimes melting the plug going into the r/r. try buying a new battery and using a multi meter to see if the charging system is working
rectifier it will be located under the right side tail fairing i belive
also follow your positive wire under the seat the 30a fuse might be shot

This is a factory Regulator/Rectifier. Pull the connector with the Yellow wires. if they look burnt or your's looks like this one with goo running down the face of it, it's probably bad. It's common for people to install Suzuki GSX/R regulators since they're bigger and have a really large heat sink.
i checked the r/r. it looked fine, i unpluged it and reinstalled it. nothing changed. when ever i pushed the start button the lights dimmed and after about 3 trys the lights werent even on.
if you have a battery charger, please charge your battery fully and try again. Then we can tell where we are at with the problem, If it cranks then. Then you could be looking at a R/R problem or A bad battery, I have bought many bad ones brand new.
If not then we are looking at a starter or possibly a safety switch problem. I do know that main run/kill switch and also kickstand switch will make light dim when you hit start button but NO start, Also clutch switch can cause all these problems too.

Yeah mine did the same when it died. Funny, the new bike I'm getting (VFR) also have the same problem & I believe the VTR's do to. Honda knows their crap, but keep putting them in their bikes!!?
when my bike died... just like in this fashion it was the fuel pump... well my understanding was that rectifier part or whatever.. was for the fuel pump??... well either way i just took the fuel pump out the equation let the gas flow free to the carbs and it started right up...cheap and free to test
