Default My 1996 F3 Rebuild

So I picked up a 96 F3 back in August for $600. The seller told me that the bike overheated and he didn't want to fix it and the bike was in pretty rough shape.

So when I got it home and went to start working on it first thing I did was drain the radiator.

So blown head gasket or bad water pump seems to have been the culprit. I just opted to tear the whole thing apart and go through everything from the ground up.

Here's where I'm at now, I just need a few more odds and ends and it'll be ready to go.

Yeh, what he said. I see the beginning and the end but no in between. Is that even the same bike. Looks great. So you rebuilt the engine etc?

I ended up rebuilding the engine with new crank and connecting rod bearings, and seeing as the evap canister and PAIR valves were already gone I switched it to the 49 state cams and jets. Here are some more in between pictures.

Well, went to go get gas and the hose blew off the thermo valve. Looks like it's swelled too much from the oil. Figures it would be one of the few rubber items that didn't get replaced that failed. Two of the three are NLA from Honda so lets hope the one I can still get is the right one. Looks like I need to replace the o-rings on the carb fuel joints as well, so a little bit longer still.

I'm also in the process of adapting the 08 cbr 1000 turn signal mirrors to fit, I'll have more of write up on that when I'm a little futher along.

Very nice indeed. Great job. If you don't mind saying, what have you invested over the $600 to get her to this point ?

cant say as im not him but in 20 years time these bikes are going to be worth a mint i tell you that straight away they are raced heavily here in Europe so a clean and well looked after cbr f3 will shortly be worth more than he paid for it

i have put £4000 into mine and still more each month but its got titanium bolts and xyz mods

probably get my money back in 40 years good job i powder coated that frame
