Question Monte's 98 F3 rebuild

So things have been going slow for my rebuild/restore of my F3. Dragging my feet on what color to paint it and such. Buddy down at the powder coat shop is getting annoyed that I can give his a color so he can order the powder.

My daughter seems to think I'm going to make a My Little Pony themed track bike thanks to my wife continuing to tell her that's what daddy's doing. At the same time my daughter thinks that the bike is her's also. Take not she is a sassy little 4.5 year old who loves to help dad out in the shop with his projects.

Right now I have the cowlings all off, repairing the crack in my upper front left cowling. Also have to replace the contacts in the fuel pump and sync the carbs up better. Been busy ordering parts and getting things lined up so I can strip it down to a frame and then have it back up in a few days.

Mods I know I will be doing, I will be port polishing the head on it along with the F4i gauge swap on it also. My buddy wants me to change it over to fuel injection and make it a F3i =P. We've done it to a XR250, a Wolverine 350 and a old KZ650 for fun. I don't think I want to sink the money into it. I rather just go buy a F4i before doing that.

What kind of mods have you guys done to your F3's?

I've done just a couple mods engine wise, a jet kit, air filter, and slip on. The biggest bang for my buck was in stalling gold valves in the forks and shock.

What does the gold valves do compared to a different product? Stronger?

It's a larger ports for fluid to pass through in the rebound and compression valves. It's a similar setup for the shock. In addition, you set up a shim stack that is for you and not the average Joe the factory shoots for. Essentially, the suspension was is customized for you.
