Wear and tear all depends on how you ride. the f3 is a tank my bike takes lots of abuse and keeps going...just routine maintenince i dont know the conversion but like every 2k miles i change the oil. check the coolant every six months change it after two years. Regulator/rectifier's(rr) Go out from time to time, Cam chanin tensioner lifter's (cct) have had issues. My bike has had a few hiccup's. Nothing major. I ride it hard and mine keeps on going.

There is a maintenance schedule in your handbook & in the bike manual, this covers all that stuff, but as Sprout said, its really down to the work out your giving the bike. Its a habit that I done for years (I've had a chain snap on a bike) & I check my chain before every ride, lube it often & about every 1000 kays (600 mls) clean it with kerosense, lube it again & adjust if needed. Oil changes are the most important thing to do on any motor, think of the oil as the bikes blood & filter as its kidneys. Every 12000 kays or 800 miles (or every 12 months) is the change schedule, but most riders will halve that. Depending on your ride conditions (sever cold/heat, dust, short rides, etc) will need it changed more often. Same thing goes for your air filter (the lungs of the bike).
The thing about frequent maintenance means your bikes always in a pretty good state, it also means that going over it will often bring a potential problem to light, rather than when your on the road.
