Thanks for the reply. This looks to be a different kit due to the custom paint. I too am worried my tank is perfect and trying to fit this cover over it will surely scratch it all up.

i love my linkys
click my siggy for my bike...

dodge the tank cover, it fits poorly and doesnt seat right, not to mention it makes your gas cap appear hidden down in your tank and just doesnt look right IMO...

as far as the plastics go, they are not OEM
fitment is not perfect and requires modding
they take time and work.

you get what you pay for.
make sure you get the correct year for your bike.
I bought 96 (and they sent me a 98 tail)

sand and paint your tank the old fashioned way...
get a tank pad, or get a tank bra.

you will thank me for that down the road.
(figuratively and literally)

These kits are cheap. A kid i work with bought a GSXR Telefonica and it had half OEM fairings and half eBay Japanese/Chinese fairings. After time the jap.Chinese fairings started to melt around areas where the exhaust goes. He had to heat wrap his headers/midpipe. Just my experience with them.

Did he not put heat shield on his fairings?
I have the cbrfairings.com's and they were great, I had to drill a couple holes a the had a bit of excess paint in them and that was the only thing that wasn't perfect on them? Also came with tons of heat shielding and they haven't came close to melting at all and I have done a couple 800-900lm rides where the exhaust would be real hot?

All I know is the PO had bought some fairing from eBay. PO stated they cost him about $175 for all fairings and even has the rest he gave to my co-worker. Fairing felt very thin, cheap, no head shields anywhere, no foam anywhere, just plastic fairings. I do not know the sellers name, or the auction #.

My bike has them from the previous owner. If your fairings are shot then they are worth it but they do require some work on fitting correctly. When I bough my bike they where zip tied up mostly. I fixed it though and they look really nice. The tank cover also fits like a glove and does not hide the gas cap at all as previously stated. If your fairings are in good shape though I'd recomend having the factory ones repainted before I bought these. Will probably cost about the same.
