Load Noise from back?

Lately I have been noticing a really loud clunking noise coming from what seems like the back swing arm/ sprocket area... My room mate thought it was my chain being loose so i tightened it up to spec last week. Still makes the noise and the chain is loose again, there is only one more alignment mark left to tighten it to though and it didn't seem to help when i tightened it the first time.
The Chain shouldn't stretch that fast should it? so I'm guessing maybe its a cheap-o chain from the PO, where is a good place to get a new chain and maybe sprocket kit without breaking the bank?
And what else could be causing the noise? its a Loud clunking/ heavy rattling only at low speeds like when starting from a stop, if I'm moving about 20 mph of higher it goes away it seems. I don't have any free play in the rear wheel so I don't think its the bearings, but i plan on pulling those this weekend.
Sorry if this has been mentioned before, its finals week for me and I'm posting between classes. So i didn't do a search. =(
Thanks!

How are you adjusting your chain? What it sounds like to me is a tight spot going over the rear sprocket. When you do you're chain, you have to adjust it when you have found the chains tightest spot (felt between the front & rear sprocket).
Chains never stretch evenly, so if you just adjust ad hock, chances are it's over tightened in several places & you get a loud "Kerchung, kerchung" from the rear. This could explain why your chain is stretching out so quickly & it would be wearing your sprockets prematurely in the process.

I know it not my CCT for sure. But I was not aware that i needed to tighten the chain in a special way, i'll give that a shot tomorrow.
-I have heard mixed feelings about X ring chains vs O ring chains, plus I'm on a tight budget until my tuition is paid off, anyone know anything about RK chians and sprockets also is a 520 kit worth it ? i use my bike for daily commute and some weekends in the twisties too.
