Default legal problems?

Hey everyone... i jsut ordered a clear integrated taillight for my 95 (ill post pics wheni put it on) and am trying to decide what to do with the fender. I was wondering, legally speaking, what are the issues that i need to look at. i was thinking of jsut hacking off the fender but leaving a little peice to mount to. i was wondering if i legally needed to keep that reflector and if LED liscence bolts would be sufficient light for the plate. I want to make the bike look better but i dont want the hassle of getting stopped for it. I was also thinking of mounting the plate on the swingarm while leaving the reflector on the fender. any help would be appreciated.

I got the same taillight and I also just used a dremel to cut off the whole fender except for a little piece on the back to screw the plate into. And yes it does look ALOT better! Its been almost 6 months and I got pulled over once for running a stop sign and the cop never mentioned a thing. If anything you will just get a fix it ticket which is only9 bucks (in FL atleast) Hope that helps

well it all really depend son where you live. judging by your screen name i would asume new york. i know here in cali you need to have a red reflector in the rear (but the lil bolt on ones will work that you put in the bottom holes of the licence plate) also your turn signals must be 10" apart from eachother from the center of the LP. you will also need a LP light.

so what i suggest get these .. then get just a normal L.E.D light bar that most import car stores carry. and be sure and mount the lights far enough apart. and you will be fine

No I don't have any reflectors. But they were not there when I bought the bike but Havoc is right alot of it depends on where you live. Do you have to get the bike inspected? Cause there aren't inspections in FL so that helps.

i live in jersey also n once your plate is visible your ok .plus u can go to a dealership n pay like 20 bucks for inspection if u have aftermarket parts that would fail u at dmv.and unless you are doin something wrong police will rarely harass you for aftermarket parts they more look for paperwork cause stolen bikes are a big bizness

I hacked off the whole tail section to discover a little rectangular section in the middle just below the tail light, that was part of the trunk itself not the rear flap thingy, i figured it would be a fantastic place to put my blinkers used the bolt led's from pepboy's for my taglight and found some metal shingle plates bent in the correct angle to mount my tag onto, the tag wiggles and the taglights are really pointed at my tire instead of the tag. (had to move the tag cuz the tire kept catching my tag) never had a problem with it, but im in ga, no bike inspections....
