RE: K&N vs Stock Air Filter
I've done a lot of dyno testing on my 97 f3with different filters and pipes. The best performance on stock motor, was a yoshi rs3 full system, k&n air filter, 48 jets from dynojets, and +2 ignition adv. and it made 101rhp.

I am the second owner so unless they did something to the motor. Ive check the valves two or three times and never noticed anyting changed. Only different cct. That what it dynoed at. I know it feels a lot stronger than my buddy's f3 that for sure.

RE: K&N vs Stock Air Filter
It's been so long ago I can't be sure. I had a buddy of mine running the dyno, we tried every different pipe, filter, and jet combination possible. I also had road racing mechanic do some modification to the upper part of my airbox, which made a huge difference. Its been over 7yrs ago. Now i have changed the cams and the gears in it. I drag race so a lot of mods on it now.

Start a thread in the General Tech or the F2 section. The ideas will come rolling in. Nobody will look for a fuel problem thread in a 5 year old air filter discussion.
