Default Just cant figure it out...

So i have a 1996 Honda Cbr F3.

It was running good for awhile when i first got it. i had to put a new radiator on it because a friend dropped it. But i got all that taken care of and it was running great. So i took the tank and some airtech fairings and gave them to a friend to do some body work and paint it all. So the bike sat for a good while before i got the tank back. Well when i got the tank back i put all new gas in it and made sure the battery was charged up really good too. But i wouldn't fire up. So i put new spark plugs in it and it fired up right away and was running awesome. Well the bike sat for a day or two then was fired up again and running great. Then it sat for 5 days and now it is cranking over really good but wont fire...Surely it cant be the spark plugs because they were just changed.

So has anyone been in this same situation...what you guys think? Thanks a lot.

How long was "sat for a good while"? Did you empty the carb floats?

It sat without a tank on it for about 5-6 weeks and then i got the tank back and put all gas in it, and put the new plugs in it and ran it a good bit. Def ran all the old gas out of it i am pretty sure. But no i didnt empty the carb floats while it sat.

Dunno if a month is long enough for the gas in the floats to gum up. But it's a possible.

Yeah so do you think i should empty the carb floats? Do you think it could be an air/fuel ratio mistake...because if the plugs are fouled then its gotta be something like that is what i am figuring.

carbs should be fine for month, ive been waiting that long for it to quit raining where i live. proboblly just flooded it. get a lighter and take it to the spark plugs to burn off the **** and stick em back in and see if it will start

Yeah, for the most part start with the plugs (need to try the lighter fluid trick myself one day).

I'd not start messing with the carbs, short of running some seafoam thru them and maybe blowing out the hoses. No need to waste a couple hours of perfectly good curse words yet
