Default Japanese f3 motor ???

Okay I got a motor from ebay, could not find one anywhere else or local. At the time I did not notice it but the ebay motor has this box next to the oil cooler. From the box two sets of tubes or wires go into the engine close the exhaust ports.

What is this box and will it affect the performance of my F3 or screw up emissions?

Is there a major difference between U.S. specs and Jap specs?

Sorry about that. Turns out its not a Jap motor its a Cali motor with extra exhaust. Need to figure out how to delete it.

Thanks

extra exhaust? what like an egr valve or something?

get a haynes manual that shows you the difference between specs with a wiring diagram so should allow you to figure out how to delete the extra rubbish.

The extra exhaust injects air into the header ports to get clean emissions. So I removed it and I am going to have some plates made to block the two ports. Also the California engines have less aggressive cams. You lose about 8 hp with the cali cams. So I swapped out the cams. Now my cam chain tensioner dose not work so I have to order another one.

The manual CCT is very simple and easy to install and use. You will rebuild the engine before you have to replace a manual CCT.
