Default ****ing bad luck, need help

Hey guys i have a 98 cbr 600. I got the bike all stunted out for 1200 bucks~ great deal but the bad news is I dropped it on its left side really hard. Their was a cage on it mounted on the engine mounts. Bad Ideal...... When it hit the ground IT craked the lower half of the engine. The crack starting at the lower half of the case to the stater cover. I Have no clue what to do...... I dont want to have to put another motor in the bike. But I asked a wedder if they could wedd it but he said no because of it being by the main internal parts, because it gets to hot, Didnt really understand why he just couldnt but anyway If anyone can help me out it would mean alot....

Oddly enough, that is where you are suppose to mount the frame sliders/cage. It's suppose to be the strongest part of the bike. Bad news is, that welder was probably right. Good news is, you can get motors for our bikes for under $500, which really is not a bad ideal. If you go the other route and it don't work, you'll be buying another motor anyway.

talk to another welder. Its a stunt bike so what do you have to loose. theres' no reason someone with aMIG aluminum welder couldnt weld it up. I think the area is too big for a TIG welder to handle ( the heat would disapate too fast). Have em grind into the crack so the weld can penetrate. they can weld it in stages. It will get hot eventually, but it should be ok. Also, the only thing you really need to worry about is the stator... you can remove that before the welding begings.

The only real problem I see is the aluminum will be contaminated by oil. Aluminum is tricky when not super clean.

Oh yeah, have them weld the crack, then put a plate over the crack, and weld that too. this should ensure its strong again.

^ not the worse idea. I'd have the welder stitch weld to try and keep heat down and then jb weld and possible leak areas. Worst case, you spin a main bearing and then consider a new lower case/engine.
