Default I was totally wrong!

Oh my god....I bought this bike about 1.5 months ago (97f3). It was fine for about two weeks and developed what I thought was a stumble. So I did a fuel filter, thought it was fuel pump contacts or solenoid bypass. I pulled my tank and a hose was off of the rear of the solenoid, I put that on and decided to check the air filter. I assumed that because the bike was so mint that it would be in good shape......was I wrong! I don't think I have ever had a vehicle (and I've had at least 50) with an air filter this dirty! Of course I can't seem to get one for a week so I cleaned it out, blew it and vacuumed it. Well it feels like a new bike, I can't wait to get a new one. Yipee!!

Do you need to drain your tank before you take it off or can you sorta just clamp off the lines coming out the bottom? This makes me wanna check my filter

It's just a matter of turning off the fuel tap, removing the side covers, removing the seat & undoing the tank bolts (front & rear) & lift.
Some of the two hoses may came away with it or pop & remain in the frame, either way, just make sure their reconnected & routed correctly when you replace the tank.

Just make sure your petcock is set to off and pull the fuel line off of it. You might lose a tiny bit of fuel but it might really be worth the work. gl

Good to hear Xricer

I just changed my fuel filter yesterday w/ the help of Pace useing the instructions from this post here https://cbrforum.com/forum/cbr-600f3-17/engine-keeps-cutting-out-116002/. The Honda OEM fuel filter was 20$ and the sales person sold me a off brand for 3$. You can't pass up pease of mind for 3$. I noticed after changing my fuel filter my engine idle went up +/- 300 rpm is this normal? The old fuel filter was changed back in 2003 w/ 10k miles, I know have 18k on my bike.

Quick question for you Pace, where are you getting these simple to follow instructions from? The service manual I d/l is no where near as detailed as the book you keep posting.

It's scanned from my Haynes manual, I've always found them to be pretty good & have had them for all my bikes (So I have a decent collection now). Those Pommies can't make a decent beer, but their great at mechanics & literature.
