EEs are definitely good friends to have. That's not a half bad idea.

I honestly would suspect the stator here. I know when I tested it on my bike it was something like 25 VAC. And I'm pretty sure there is supposed to be some resistance. Let's say 1 Ohm + or - .2 Ohms. I'm not sure what the exact numbers are, but I'm fairly certain they're somewhere around there and they're in the manual. When you are testing the VAC does it give you a 20 option? That would be more accurate. Also, when you are checking the resistance make sure you are in the most precise mode (where you can see decimals). Otherwise the cheapo multimeters will round numbers off.

Right now my suspicions are on the stator though. I know when I did the test I got at least double your readings.

Exclamation gsxr rr installed

so my rr came in today and i replaced it with an 05 gsxr one. it definitely worked..but perhaps to well. i had the battery on a trickle charger so it stayed charged this last week or so. when i fired it up it seemed to be running a bit high. at idle it was anywhere between 13.7 and 14.3. i know its supposed to be above 13.5 but 14.3?? I slowly revved to 5k. in doing so i saw it jump to about 15.3 then drop back down to around 14.8-15.0 immediately. at 5k though it was at a pretty steady 14.78. i'm pretty sure its not supposed to go above 14.8. Is this ok? i dont want to go through another rr.

How accurate of a multimeter are you using to measure this voltage? I would say that you'll be fine. Mine usually runs anywhere between 13.7 and 14.7. If it spikes for a second or two it's not going to damage anything. If you start seeing anything over 15.3 I would start looking into the stator maybe. From experience 17V will junk a 12V battery.
